Northern Lights
At the northern tip of the Arctic the air is a silent frosty dome
Polar bears lay huddled on the bed of ice that is their home
Protective of her young cub, the great snow bear holds him near
As she looks up at the dazzling array of lights that suddenly appear
The natural light display in the Earths sky is a celestial scene to behold
Magically they appear but are full of gas and particles if truth be told
Dazzling glowing arcs of colour stream in pinks, greens and blues
The dancing lights reflecting the bears fur in sparkling iridescent hues
Snowflakes softly fall around them silently landing on their bed of snow
Their future is sadly uncertain and safety is difficult to know
The tender balance of the eco system is dangerously at risk
The Polar Bear is loved by many and would be greatly missed
Without a place to live this amazing species will soon diminish
Their precious food source is infected by our harmful oil spillage
Global warming is melting their ice, right now, taking away their habitat
Now, honestly, do we really want to be responsible for that?
