Little Friend
One lazy summer afternoon in the warmth of sun
I stopped to clean my paws, tired from a run
The field was full of colour with flowers out in bloom
I breathed in their beauty which will vanish all too soon
Below me there was a rustle and patter of tiny feet
A fluffy brown creature I now was due to meet
Suddenly it scurried up and much to my surprise
Sitting on a flower head with keen twinkly eyes
This little fellow smiled at me and offered out a squeak
With big silky ears and a long tail he is quite unique
With a wink, a tiny pink paw he then did extend
Happily I accepted, as I know I’ve found a friend
