Picked with Love
Daisy blinked at the morning sun shining in her eyes
She carried on digging, her efforts focused on the surprise
She had sneaked out early, the dew still sparkled on the lawn
As she dug the robins and blackbirds curiously looked on
For today was rather special and she had been planning it a while
It was her human’s birthday and she wanted to make her smile
With dirt all up her nose and a snail stuck on her head
She had to be quick before her human was out of bed
Mission accomplished she raced up the garden path
Scattering the pigeons who were enjoying the birdbath
Up the stairs she clambered with muddy paws of dirt
She launched herself onto the bed pinning a lady in a nightshirt
Who was now covered in soil, tulips and a few roses
Amid cries of surprise, she received licks, kisses and wet noses
“Happy Birthday!” barked Daisy for her little heart was true
A beautiful spring bouquet picked with love just for you!
