The old wooden seat creaks as it gently sways in the early morning breeze
Sunshine sparkles through a glistening web a spider silently weaves
Here in our garden so many flowers planted and memories we shared
I sit, trying to remember your voice, your face, the smell of your hair

The ache in my heart is because I loved you so very much
True love is a precious thing, blessed are we that it chooses to touch
I planted a special flower bush next to our swing to remember you by
It’s little things like this that we do without really understanding why

As my mind fills with your memories a sudden flash of wings catches my eye
There on the bush is a little robin, “tweet tweet” he sings as he watches me cry
I hold my breath as this wonderful bird hops right onto the seat next to me
I know right then it is you coming to visit me, my heart truly believes

Dear little robin, you carry a precious soul on your wings
Letting me know you watch over me with every song that you sing
Here in our special place, love echoes through time, forever young
I smile, knowing I will be ok now, my healing has begun…

Wiggles is a bit bonkers, such an energetic little guinea pig
“Chut Chut” is his happy noise as he looks for a new place to dig
He scampers about all day noisily “week week week”
Always looking for something new and tasty to eat
His owner was a little worried that he never slowed down
So, one day she had an idea and popped to the local town
When she returned with a big box, she felt a little apprehension
Wiggles ran over to her inquisitively, she certainly had his attention
Suddenly the box moved and out popped two long ears of fluff
“Weeeek” squealed Wiggles excitedly, when sure enough
Out hopped a beautiful bunny with giant white paws
She leaped in the air flicking her tail and landed on all fours
She twitched her whiskers and Wiggles fell in love at first sight,
He offered her a strawberry which she munched with delight
He purred with contentment as he snuggled her tenderly
She smiled at this sweet little pig, who was calmed by her energy
So attentive to his long-eared beauty Wiggles could want for no more
Whiskers smiled at his crazy antics, but she couldn’t help but adore
Wiggles and Whiskers are now such an inseparable pair,
wherever Whiskers went, there is Wiggles with forget-me-nots in his hair

Visitors travelled from far and wide to woodlands animal farm
The guinea pig enclosure always held a particular charm
Squeaking little bundles of fur making everyone laugh
Keenly watching all the children who smiled as they passed
As the day drew to a close the keeper opened their door
All the little pigs scrambled to see what was in store
A pair of hands gently lowered a ball of fluff to the ground
What a beauty had arrived to a chorus of squeals all around
Pudge watched from the water bowl as they all fell about
Trying to impress her wiggling their bums and their snouts
She was a little bit overwhelmed and shyly ran away
After a while they grew bored and wandered off to play
Pudge quietly watched her feeling utterly beguiled
He approached her and flashed his friendliest smile
He offered her a dandelion which she happily began to nibble at
She then fell about laughing seeing he was wearing a strawberry for a hat
From that point on he had won her heart for he made her squeak
He snuggled up next to her and she happily kissed his cheek

A pink haze of heat hangs lazily across the Savanna plain
Among the elephants there is a stirring and an air of anticipation gains
One of their beloved family members is due to return home today
There is nothing to rival a greeting such as the elephant way

As they circle restlessly there is at last a distance calling sound
Lucy approaches from afar the dry dust billowing across the ground
Lily hears her sister and takes off running with her heart beating fast
As they get closer, they run faster excited to greet each other at last

As the other elephants join in, they scream and trumpet with a deafening noise
In a mass of flapping ears and thundering feet like an army deployed
With sheet delight they embrace in a symphony of trumpets so happy to be together
An elephant never forgets and their bond of love is truly given forever

Lucy and Lily fondly entwining dusty trunks that fit together like a glove
Together again the family show there is no greater love than elephant love
Rubbing and leaning on each other expressing their affection so sweetly
Elephants are incredibly blessed with the biggest hearts that love so deeply

On the edge of the African Savanna, there are deep forests of trees
These are the home of the magnificent forest elephant families
They are the largest land mammals on earth living up to 70 years old
With the deepest feelings and expressive emotions and hearts of gold

Their ears are shaped like the country they live in, roaming wild and free
They play a critical role in the eco system shaping the habitat you see
In the dry season they use their tusks to dig up dry riverbeds to run
Creating watering holes for many animals to drink and splash in the sun

They are matriarchal in female led groups protectively watching over their young
Sucking water through their trunks they splash and shower each other having fun
Feeding on shrubs and trees their trunks seek out tasty things to find
And are also great for snuggling each other, so affectionate and kind

Roaming great distances while they forage for food and space
Their incredible memory helps them remember place to place
No other creature can trumpet with such an incredible sound
Or make the earth shake when they run like thunder upon the ground

What is it about Bumblebees that we love so much
Is it their gorgeously fluffy bottoms that we long to touch
Or the way they zoom around free as the wind
Buzzing around the flowers, such happiness they bring
Or is it how hard they work that we admire
Their little wings frantically flapping to lift them higher
Or the way they are so clever making their honey
A golden treasure more valuable than money
They always seem friendly and happy with each other
Busily collecting nectar to take home to the queen mother
There are so many things we can learn from the bees
Gracefully keeping our environment balanced with such ease
Whatever it is, they have captured our hearts forever
Lets all try and be like them and live in harmony together

Today I quietly crept down to the riverbank on the grassy fen
A tangle of twisted tree branches hides the entrance to a den
Cool fresh water flows through the silky green rushes and weeds
It is here I found the happiest of homes nestled behind the reeds
For it is filled with a family of river otters about to emerge
I sit perfectly still behind a bush on the verge

Here they come! Scampering down the sandy bank excitedly
Mum, with pup in mouth approaches the water very carefully
In she swims for pups first lesson on how to use his webbed feet
Diving under and up again the love and care she shows is so sweet
Such an affectionate group of otters they just want to have fun
Splashing each other with squeals of delight in the golden summer sun

I laugh as they romp on the land, rolling around and chasing each other playfully
then quickly jump back into the river steering with silky long tails so gracefully
Their love is clear from the sense of fun and affection they openly display
Cuddling and grooming each other they cling together throughout the day
Such a wonderful afternoon I had watching them all so happily
For to be an otter means it is utterly otterly all about family.

There is little to rival the wilds of the welsh mountain range they say
From its craggy heights down through the softer peaks and winding pathways
Way up in the harsh highest peaks the hardy sheep huddle and keep warm
Thunder rumbles through the darkening sky, here comes a heavy rainstorm
“Come on” yells the shepherd gathering his herd down towards the tracks
Clattering of hooves on the stones as they run ahead avoiding all the cracks
As they are halfway down a thick silvery fog hangs heavily in the air
Owain struggles to see his friend and worry soon turns to fear, as she’s not there
Clambering back up the tracks Owain can’t see and soon finds himself all alone
Pointing his ears forwards he bleats for Gwen, where up here would she roam?
As an intelligent breed with sensitive ears, he suddenly hears a faint sound
Pressing ahead he finds her nearby, with her foot stuck in a rocky mound
Through the hammering rain he nudges her foot free with tenderness and care
Rubbing each other’s noses in relief they are a loyal and affectionate pair
Happily sheltering under an oak tree the wise branches protecting overhead
This is their way of life; they are proud welsh mountain sheep born and bred.

In a box laid with straw Clara swayed this way and that feeling blessed at her good luck
Clattering along the bumpy country lanes in the back of the farmers old truck
She was on her way to Buttercup Farm free at last from the noisy battery pens
Fields of lush green to roam free there is no nicer place to live if you are a hen
As the days passed, she was welcomed into the coop although Clara felt a bit shy
The country was very quiet and she struggled to sleep no matter how hard she tried
After many restless nights looking at the moon Clara’s problem became clear
Poor Clara hadn’t laid a single egg and her heart became gripped in fear
The farmer had taken notice and each day shook his head at her in dismay
The other girls awkwardly looked at each other a bit unsure what to say
Each morning she was so exhausted and no egg would come out
The other girls clucked and laid wondering what the fuss was all about
Clara was so worried she rolled the other eggs into a bush hoping that nobody saw
She found an old straw hat and hid some eggs under there by the barn door
She didn’t want to get the other girls in trouble but what else could she do?
If she was the only one not laying the farmer might end up putting her in a stew
Then a terrible storm blew in hammering rain and lightning flashing angrily across the sky
Thunder boomed so loudly the chickens started to panic thinking they would surely die
Suddenly a loud crack brought a tree crashing down into the coop blocking the door
Chickens flew everywhere covered in mud unable to see panicking them even more
Instinctively Clara pecked at the wire creating a hole and calmed all the hens down
This way! she cried herding them all together and one by one guiding them around
She led them safely to the barn where they huddled in the straw pile shaken from their ordeal
Thanking her they stuck together through the night with love and warmth Clara could truly feel
Exhausted and content she finally drifted off to sleep nodding her little head
As rays of sunlight woke her, she looked down in surprise at a perfect brown speckled egg
She finally had laid her treasure, such a beautiful sight the very thing for which she had longed
All she needed was a storm, a good night’s sleep and a feeling that she belonged.
