Honey is a sweet cocker spaniel and gentle soul
Getting fuss and ear rubs wherever she goes
A creature of habit she likes to know where to be
As the clock chimes six, she is sat waiting patiently
For this is when mummy will come through the door
Kicking off her heels as she drops her bag on the floor
Honey’s tail wags as she watches her pull on her wellies
For the evening walk is even better than filling her belly
An hour of running around the field feeling wild and free
Then back home to snuggle in her bed as content as can be

A familiar car engine could be heard pulling into the drive
That meant naptime was over as mummy had finally arrived
Henry lifted a lazy eyelid no more effort to be made
Mabel barked and ran to the door waiting to be praised
Bags of shopping were dropped with the jingle of a bell
Mabel sniffed the bags to see if a treat could be smelled
Henry knew what was coming and pretended not to wake
For this time of year stupid pictures were attempted to take
Sure enough, with no surprise out came crazy antlers on a headband
With no permission given, on his fluffy head they were rammed
Lots of coos and encouragement and treats offered to pose
Pulled from his bed, Henry was betrayed by his greedy nose
Mabel had a fluffy hat on with reindeer ears that had been knit
Henry rolled his eyes at her eagerness for she looked a complete twit
As the camera flashed and they were pulled about he sighed
He had learnt over the years it was just easier to comply
Posing for treats was such a disgrace in his manner of thought
Mabel disagreed, sitting up straight only too happy to be bought
When it was over, they gobbled up turkey and stuffing flavoured treats
Waggy tails returned to their comfy beds content again to snooze in peace

The streets are full of shoppers rushing to and fro
Frantically ticking off lists with one more night to go
For those who are escaping their bags are now packed
Presents sitting under Christmas trees beautifully wrapped
Streamers are dangling and balloons have been hung
There will be dancing and laughing and all kinds of fun
Champagne is fizzing and work can now be ignored
Its time to pop the corks and bring out the cheeseboard
So, put on your dancing shoes and raise your glass of wine
Tis the season, yes, we earned it! Let’s declare it party time!

The doorbell rang loudly through the cottage as the Farmer got up from his armchair
“Hang on! I’m coming” he cried as he stepped out of his front door into the crisp winter air
There waiting on the doormat was Nibbles his donkey impatiently gnawing at the bell
“Alright, Il get your breakfast”, he said chuckling, knowing his greedy donkey all too well.
Unfortunately, he found the shed was empty, the donkey’s food hadn’t been delivered
“Il have to go to town for more” said the farmer jumping in his icy truck with a shiver
As the farmer drove off Nibbles looked around not very happy about that
She wandered around the farm determined to find herself a tasty snack
Rosie Robin flew over as Nibbles started chewing at the postbox at the end of gate
“You cant eat that!” tweated Rosie, “the postman needs to put the letters in there!”
Humph muttered Nibbles as she spat out the wood and got a stamp stuck to her lip
She made her way back up the drive so fast Rosie cried “slow down or you’ll slip!”
Nibbles stopped to sniff the old scarecrow and started eating the shirt pockets
“You cant eat that!” Said Rosie “It guards over the vegetables” as she landed on a bucket
“There must be something to eat, I’m starving!” grumbled Nibbles looking around in despair
Rosie flew up high searching the farm as she had a really good view from up there
“Quick over here!” called Rosie landing on a snowman, “I’ve spotted something you can munch”
Nibbles ran over excitedly and without any introduction bit his nose with a delicious crunch!

The ancient radio crackles with a voice reading the evening news
Alfie looks up as his master, sat in his worn armchair having a snooze
So many Christmases they have spent together, an old trusty pair
Never leaving each other’s side, so many memories they now share
The Radio Times slides off his lap silently crumpled in a heap
The visitors have all gone home not much to do now but sleep
Piles of new socks and ginger biscuits have been gratefully received
Alfie had some chews and a new toy thrown and retrieved
The grandchildren played games and enjoyed bright jelly sweets
From the old jar grandpa keeps on the shelf filled with their treats
Alfie stretched in his bed and gently nudged the mans’ slipper
He was too old to tear it apart like he used to as a young nipper
The man woke and stared at him with a knowing smile on his face
“You want to play old boy?” He asked, looking around for something to throw
Alife picked up a cracker and held one end gently with a bow
The man chuckled and agreed, you are never too old to pull a Christmas cracker
It’s the way it makes you feel young again at Christmas, that truly matters
So, treasure the time you have with your family and your friends
Make special memories with all your loved ones and make those amends.

Sofie is a very cheeky girl
And rather clever for a mouse
She tiptoes down the quiet corridors
Undiscovered within the country house

Her favourite time of year has finally arrived
The freshly baked gingerbread wafts down the hall
The tree is hung with pretty baubles and twinkling lights
A smell that’s irresistible to the resident mice

As the house falls silent, Sofie looks all around
Scampering towards the treat her feet make no sound
She has her eye on her most desired prize
The giant orange ball reflecting in her glassy black eyes

Swinging wildly from branches to steal the treat
She reaches with all her might for something sweet
With a final swing she captures her treasure
Tapped and unwrapped she enjoys the chocolatey pleasure
