If you stand very still deep in a forest under the trees
You can feel her presence, there is an energy in the air
She is the Goddess, the ancient spirit of the forest
She protects and nurtures all who inhabit there

She is the earth beneath your feet, the wind in the trees
The wheel of life keeping balance through the turning seasons
In Autumn she changes the colours and blows the leaves
From sparkling gold to rusty browns and shiny coppers

She is the cool breath of Winter as the animals gently sleep
Protecting the land with snow to allow the ground time to rest
Awakening the fragrant earth in Spring as buds burst into life
Bluebells colour the paths and birds emerge from their nests

She is the warmth of glowing Summer sunshine on flowers
The invisible energy in the beat of dragonfly wings
She is the soft rainfall and rainbows full of lazy long hours
Mother Nature, divinity, magic, she is the balance of all things

Mr Pheasant knows he is beautiful plump, fat and proud
Not the brightest of the bunch, running from any foe
Eating seeds and berries without a single woe
Oh no, Farmers coming! Quick better scurry
Noisily launching himself in a flap and a hurry
A blast of noise and a bullet of clay
With surprise our fellow survives another day!

I walk through the meadow with joy in my heart
Baby blue skies above blowing the clouds apart
New life and promise emerging from every new thing
The call of the curlew heralding the arrival of spring
Birds bustle in and out of hedges building their nests
Bluebells burst through in a carpet of blue mist
Lambs and ducklings with speckled blue eggs
Tulips and daffodils with trumpeting heads
Buzzing of bees circling on invisible threads
Blue tits and swallows busy making their beds
Butterflies gently waltzing in the new spring air
A spider gracefully spinning her web as I stare
Bright golden dandelion heads following the sun
Trickling riverbeds now free to flow and run
Fluffy ears of foxgloves and lady’s mantle emerge
Cheerful cherry blossom in delicate petals unfurl
Fields of yellow lesser calendines begin to shine
The glorious splendour of the british countryside
And sitting right there in a patch of fresh blooms
Is the elusive little hare, just enjoying their perfume

The old wooden seat creaks as it gently sways in the early morning breeze
Sunshine sparkles through a glistening web a spider silently weaves
Here in our garden so many flowers planted and memories we shared
I sit, trying to remember your voice, your face, the smell of your hair

The ache in my heart is because I loved you so very much
True love is a precious thing, blessed are we that it chooses to touch
I planted a special flower bush next to our swing to remember you by
It’s little things like this that we do without really understanding why

As my mind fills with your memories a sudden flash of wings catches my eye
There on the bush is a little robin, “tweet tweet” he sings as he watches me cry
I hold my breath as this wonderful bird hops right onto the seat next to me
I know right then it is you coming to visit me, my heart truly believes

Dear little robin, you carry a precious soul on your wings
Letting me know you watch over me with every song that you sing
Here in our special place, love echoes through time, forever young
I smile, knowing I will be ok now, my healing has begun…

Sometimes you know what I’m about to say
It makes you special in every way
You understand me and laugh at my mistakes
With the ridiculous things I often undertake
You tolerate me when no one else would
You are patient and kind and far too good
Having someone like you by my side
Gives me the wings on which I can glide
Someone to depend on confide and confess
Laugh and cry with, a friend to call best
And through it all we have the love that we share
So can I just say, I’ll always be hare x

Oh, to be a bee, such a wonderfully fascinating thing
The sound of summer with the buzzing that they bring
Pollinating all the flowers from the seeds that we sew
Without them our food just wouldn’t be able to grow

Beautifully fat and fluffy with very busy wings
Watching them work is one of my favourite things
Frantically beating their wings back and forth they can’t cease
Staying aloft until the flowers pollen they then release

Swooshing about filling the air with gentle hums
Fluffy bodies and dangling legs exploring the delphiniums
As they bumble about the flowers bringing a smile to my face
They are a treasure to us all and must be kept safe
